Boohoo sales dip on higher returns, tough comparative

LONDON, June 16 (Reuters) – British online fashion retailer Boohoo reported an expected fall in revenue in its latest quarter, reflecting higher product returns and a tough comparison with the same period last year when sales got a pandemic boost. But the group, which sells clothing, shoes, accessories and beauty products aimed at 16 to 40-year olds, maintained its guidance for the full year. Boohoo said on Thursday its revenue fell 8% to 445.7 million pounds ($540.8 million) over the three months to May 31. It said UK sales fell 1%, but returned to growth in May. The group said its international performance continued to be impacted by increased delivery times, with sales down 28% in the United States, down 9% in the rest of Europe division and down 15% in the rest of world division. Surgery-addicted social media star Mary Magdalene made headlines this week after she claimed that she was kicked off a flight for looking ‘too explicit’ in a sports bra. Copper steadies, but slowdown fears keep investors on edge

June 29 (Reuters) – London copper prices edged up on Wednesday due to a slight pullback in the U.S. dollar, although fears over a global economic slowdown, higher interest rates and weak economic readings kept investors on the edge. FUNDAMENTALS * Three-month copper on the London Metal Exchange was up 0.2% at $8,378 a tonne, as of 0238 GMT, after falling 0.6% in the previous session. * The most-traded August copper contract in Shanghai eased 0.1% to 63,990 yuan ($9,546.76) a tonne. * U.S. Federal Reserve policymakers on Tuesday promised further rapid interest-rate hikes to bring down high inflation, but pushed back against growing fears among investors and economists that higher borrowing costs will trigger a steep downturn. * U.S. consumer confidence fell sharply in June as worries about rapid inflation left consumers anticipating that economic growth would weaken significantly in the second half of the year. * The dollar…    read more
